Following their stunning Beatport chart success that was First There Was Sound, Open Records returns in quick succession with another wicked release, this time with a slightly more international flavour. The First Circuit EP is the third release from R.E.Z. on Open, following the  Sunderland EP last September, which found its way onto the playlists of some of the biggest in the business including Oliver Klein, Jody Wisternoff, Eelke Kleijn, Luke Porter and heaps more.

First Circuit is R.E.Z. at their dark and brooding best: hypnotic rhythms and melancholy pads are underpinned by a wide and driving bass, with a twisted and effected string line permeating the piece right until the very end. Perfect for the dark sweaty backroom or dusty festival dance floor alike, First Circuit is further proof that they are a name to watch in progressive and techno music.

German legend Criss Source doesn’t need much introduction – as one of the electronic music scene’s hardest working and most respected DJs and producers, his years of experience both in the studio and on the dancefloor speak for themselves. Always a major inspiration to the Open Records sound, we are proud to have him on board for remix duties and his deep yet funky hypnotic monster is already getting plays from Jerome Isma Ae, D-Nox, Lissat & Voltaxx, Alex Flatner, Magitman and many more.

Another person with a few hits lately is young Dutch producer SQL, who smashed it to international stardom last year with his longstanding Beatport Minimal No.1 Distorted Reality and has since gone on to release on some of the best labels in the business. His remix takes us down a slightly warmer and more techy route, dominated by a modulating subby bassline and further twist on the original already twisted string melody.

Closing out the EP is another Amsterdam artist Kinga, with a suitably driving dance floor bomb to finish off proceedings in style. This is twisted peak time techno at its best, taking it up a notch with a more hectic groove and twisted sounds, concluding what is another solid release from your favourite Australian underground dance imprint.
