With no Winter Solstice happening this year, there is a gaping hole left in the Cairns party and festival calendar. Disappointing as it is, Bush Week Festival is back in 2011 and plans to fill some of that void at the picturesque Home Rule Rainforest Lodge at Rossville, just outside the historic Cooktown. Bush Week is a festival unlike any other, an interactive experience where the party-goers not only attend, but get involved in workshops and help with the construction of stages, art projects and performances. The end result is truly spectacular (anyone who has seen the giant bamboo pirate ship and skull and cross bones from years past will need no more convincing) and we reckon this one is going to be a real treat. Heaps more info (including some exciting news in conjunction with Open Records and festival) is coming soon, but for now, mark June 20-26 in your diaries and get planning for a trip north! Tickets are on sale now from Shiva Moon, Tastey, Tantrika and Fetish 4 Life, or online now at TicketLink or Rudekat Records (special double passes with Kuranda Roots Festival available soon).
