With releases on highly regarded labels such as All Day I Dream, Musik Gewinnt Freunde, Kindisch, Get Physical, Moodmusic and Plastic City, YokoO has marked out a spot for himself in the global electronic music scene with his talents sought in every corner of the world. But if you’ve been around Brisbane for a while, you’ll know YokoO once did call our fine city home … and we can’t wait for his long-awaited return!
FUNKFORM (OPEN RECORDS / VAPOUR) CAIRNS
FunkForm is one of the Australian dance scene’s unsung heroes. After simmering away in his Far Northern studios for years, the Cairns-based producer and live artist has matured into one of the country’s most exciting house, progressive, techno and electronica talents. His slick, deep take on dance music has found its way into the setlists of names like Hernan Cattaneo, Derrick May, John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Marco Carola, Luis Jr, D-Nox and many more, alongside releases on Vapour Recordings, BEEF, Particles, Futureform and of course, his home label Open Records. This show will serve as the Brisbane launch of FunkForm’s new EP Imprinted on Open, with remixes by Matter, GMJ and Maxi Basshead.
Alchemy is a longstanding club event series dedicated to bringing Brisbane the best in techno, progressive and all things four to the floor. They have hosted international superstars like Slam, Oliver Koletzki, Daypayk, Padperg, Grouch and many more, alongside being an integral part of annual South-East Queensland festival Manifest.
Open Records is one of Australia’s most enduring and respected techno, house and electronica imprints. Born in Far North Queensland and now a truly global label, Open has close to 50 releases to its name and a huge following across the globe.
