Closer Apart + Opiuo at Kuranda Roots Festival

Kuranda Roots Festival isn’t usually where you find too many Open Records artists on the bill, but this year, both Melbourne techno and tech-house duo Closer Apart (featuring Andy Kidd ex-Continuum and Freddy from Lubdub… their track Last Word is featuring on our new compilation Depth Perception) and New Zealand broken-beat king Opiuo (who had a Beatport chart smash with us early in 2010) are featuring on the billing. Always good fun, Kuranda Roots is held in the legendary Kuranda Amphitheatre, which is worth the trip alone as the venue (which counts itself as one of the best in the country, if not the world) doesn’t get used that much anymore. The only problem for a lot of people (quite a few of team Open included) is that Perth progressive rockers Karnivool are also on the same night as the main day of the festival, making for a pretty tough choice! Luckily, Kuranda Roots runs over two days with camping this year, so pending set times, chances are you’ll be able to catch both!
