Western Australia gets a triple treat of three of Open Records favourite artists on February 1, with D-Sens, Progress Inn and Drewan at Matches Lounge in Perth.
Progress Inn is the DJ/production duo consisting of Janko Dragovic and Igor Kadic (pictured above). Originally from former Yugoslavia, they are based in Perth, but have been tour overseas for quite some time now, so a homecoming gig is highly anticipated.
They are one of the progressive and house scene’s most exciting production duos and live outfits, and have played alongside a huge list of the world’s best, including Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, Timo Maas, James Zabiela, Lee Burridge, Guy J, Robert Babicz, Radio Slave, Xhin, Satoshi Tommiie, 16 Bit Lolitas, James Holden, Stephan Bodzin and Yousef.
They have releases on Vapour, Temporum, Bermudos, Soulfire and Baroque, with more in the pipeline fromReplug, Open, Contrast, 3rd Avenue and of course, their own Obstacles Recordings. Their wicked productions have been getting some huge support of late, so expect the name a lot more in 2014.
Meanwhile, French master D-Sens lands fresh from the legendary Rainbow Serpent Festival.
One of Open Records’ longest standing collaborators, Mat is an electronic music producer evolving across a few projects and monikers: D-sens, Passion Victim and Lunaspice. D-sens is his main project, spreading a wide range of deep techno, house and funk.
D-sens production are featured on labels like Arva from Armin Van Buuren’s compilation, Phunk Investigation’s Miniatures Records, Pena’s Flow, Baroque, Sweep 181, BEEF, Open and on his own Bus records. His awesome productions and unique style of DJing has seen him play across the globe, including Australia, Japan, NZ, India, Asia, North Africa and over Europe.
Closing out the trio of headliners is Drewan, Open Records’ go to guy when it comes to forward thinking deep house, tech-house and minimal.
Beginning his DJ career in the wilds of the Atherton Tablelands near Cairns, Drewan quickly caught the attention of Open Records through the vibrant Far North Queensland party scene and has been an integral part of our DJ and management team ever since. Pushing the deeper, groove-focused end of the Open Records sound, he never fails to deliver behind the decks and is without a doubt one of the smoothest DJs on our roster.
No longer based in Far North Queensland, Drewan now calls Perth in Western Australia home and is now taking bookings for local events. When he’s not spending his time enjoying the title of the most striking gent in the Australian electronic music scene, Drewan can be found bustin’ mad technicalities at the skate park or programming one of the biggest IT projects in Western Australian history.
Support from WA’s finest Paul Devins and optomal. Doors open 7pm-midnight, $10 after 10pm. Matches Lounge is located at 91A James St, Northbridge, Perth. More info at Facebook.
