The good people of Far North Queensland are doing their bit today to help the citizens of Japan get back on their feet after their recent devastating earthquake, tsunami and nuclear emergency. The Japan Day Of Hope is on now at Fogarty Park on the Esplanade and features a huge day of Japanese-themed activities, including aikido, karate and kendo demonstrations, origami classes, yummy Japanese food, a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, fashion parades, games and loads of huge raffles, with all money being donated to the Red Cross Japan and Pacific Disaster Appeal 2011. Open Records’ own Jesse Kuch (aka Suspekt) will end the day off with a DJ set from 6pm, featuring a fat load of deep house and techno inspired by Jesse’s recent visits to Japan. Entry is free, but please bring some money down to donate! Jesse will also head to Japan in around three weeks time to play another charity gig in support of the cause in Nagoya. More details soon, but for now, if you’re in Cairns, get down to Fogarty Park now!!!
