Part of the electronic music scene for 20 years, Paul Abad is one of Queensland’s most respected DJs.

In that time, he has explored a wide range of sounds and influences, but these days it’s the many flavours of techno at the heart of Paul’s groove. Paul takes a methodical approach to the art of DJing, with a multi-channel Ableton setup incorporating loops and effects. Flow, groove, space and progression are key themes in Paul’s sets, but of primary importance is the mix – recombining and layering, and responding to an audience.

Ranging from main floor techno to deeper k-haus and voodoo techhouse grooves, his sets are deeply steeped in the soul of techno, and inspired by the Australian outdoor dance music culture. Now in 2016, Paul has embarked on a new focus on production which is leading towards a hybrid live/dj setup and original tracks.

Constantly pushing his own boundaries and contributing to the collective evolution of the Australian electronic music scene has seen Paul perform at festivals and clubs all over Australia, playing key support slots for acts such as diverse as Future Sound of London, Chris Liebing, Bass Nectar, Dj Krush, Monolake, Tipper, Adam Beyer, Maetrik, Richard Devine, Deadbeat, Audio Injection, Perfect Stranger, Phoenecia, Bernd Friedman, Antix, Perfect Stranger, Thomas Brinkmann, Aes Dana and many more.

Paul is also the driving force behind South-East Queensland’s iconic Earth Frequency Festival.
